My Why: How Therapy Found Me as a Profession
Choosing a career in therapy wasn’t just a decision—it was a calling that grew out of my own life experiences, values, and the people who shaped me along the way. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas, specializing in anxiety, OCD, and trauma therapy for children, teens, and adults, my “why” is deeply personal and grounded in a belief that everyone deserves to be truly heard and understood.
The Journey That Led Me Here
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 15 years working as a public school educator and Licensed School Counselor in Texas. In that role, I saw firsthand how stress, anxiety, and life challenges can weigh heavily on children, teens, and families. I also saw how having a safe, nonjudgmental space—and someone who believes in you—can completely change the trajectory of a person’s life.
That experience planted the seed. It showed me that therapy isn’t just about “fixing problems”—it’s about empowering people to understand themselves, manage their emotions, and live with greater confidence and calm.
Why Therapy Matters to Me
I believe therapy should be more than a clinical appointment. It should be a collaborative relationship where you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts, try new strategies, and even find moments of humor and joy in the process.
Through specialized approaches like Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) for OCD, ERP for anxiety, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care, I help my clients—ages 5 and up—step out of fear cycles, challenge unhelpful patterns, and move toward a life they feel proud of.
Bringing My Why Into Every Session
When clients walk into my office (or log into a virtual session), they bring with them a unique story, a set of challenges, and a vision for what they want life to look like. My role is to listen deeply, tailor therapy to their needs, and support them in making those visions a reality.
Every technique, from CBT to mindfulness, is chosen with intention—and with your goals in mind. This is more than a profession to me. It’s a privilege.
